Following Lead of Presenting Sponsor Liberty Bank, New Sponsors Help Strengthen Foundation of State’s Largest Veterans Charity Golf Event; Access Health CT Doubles Down on its Support of Vets as Event’s First-Ever Diamond Sponsor
New Britain, Conn., August 15, 2025 – With Presenting Sponsor Liberty Bank setting the tone, an impressive group of new corporate sponsors – as well as a doubling of its commitment to Veterans by Access Health CT – has helped strengthen the foundation of what has become the State’s largest Veterans charity golf event, DAV Hardware City Chapter 8’s Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open.
New sponsors on board for the 2025 event on September 26 at Tunxis Country Club include Newfield Construction, Link Mechanical Services, Inc., Carden Home Improvement and the Law Offices of Attorney James E. Sulick. In addition, Access Health CT – a new Platinum Level Sponsor in 2024 – has doubled its financial commitment this year, returning as the event’s first-ever Diamond Level Sponsor.
The new and increased commitments total nearly $7,000 in added sponsorship dollars.
“Having a major brand such as Liberty Bank leading the charge has clearly paved the way for more local companies and businesses, large and small, to join our collective effort to support and honor Connecticut Veterans through this event,” said Tournament Founder and Director Dennis Buden.
Returning sponsors to date, in addition to Liberty Bank and Access Health CT, include The Tomasso Group, the Petit Family Foundation, the Starlight Program at Stonington Institute, the Mayor’s Trophy Charitable Fund, Houzpital (formerly Atlantic Restoration), Biltmore Construction, AVNA, Napcon Communications, Image Ink, Sir Speedy, Veterans Strong Community Center and the Community Foundation of Greater New Britain. Last year’s event attracted an all-time high 236 golfers and raised a record $30,000 for the Disabled American Veterans, House of Heroes Connecticut and additional causes supporting and honoring Veterans and active-duty military. Over 16 years and 14 events (the event did not take place in 2019 and 2020), the Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open has raised more than $235,000 for those who served.
With the event still six weeks away, what this year’s numbers will be remains uncertain. But one thing is known for sure, said Buden: When all is said and done following the 2025 event, the Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open will have surpassed a quarter of a million dollars raised for Veterans over the course of its history.
“I think that astounding number is something everyone associated with this event – our golfers, our sponsors, our volunteers – can be very proud of,” said Buden.
There remains plenty of time to join the army of golfers, sponsors and supporters of the “GK.” Golf registration is $175; sponsorships range from a $125 tee sign to a $5,000 Diamond Level Sponsorship; and dinner-only admission is $85. Golf registration as well as sponsorship and dinner purchases are available at www.davchapter8.org.
