The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is a non-profit 501(c)(4) charity dedicated to building better lives for America’s disabled veterans and their families. With nearly 1,300 chapters, including DAV Hardware City Chapter 8, and more than one million members across the country, DAV empowers our nation’s heroes and their families by helping to provide the resources they need and ensuring that our nation keeps the promises made to them.
In 2021, DAV helped veterans receive more than $25 billion in earned benefits, assisted more than 150,000 veterans with claims and provided more than 160,000 rides to medical appointments. DAV’s services are offered at no cost to all generations of veterans, their families and survivors. DAV is also a leader in connecting veterans with meaningful employment, hosting job fairs and providing resources to ensure they have the opportunity to participate in the American Dream their sacrifices have made possible.
DAV Hardware City Chapter 8 has been assisting New Britain area veterans for decades. The Chapter is a vibrant member of the Greater New Britain community, annually leading the community’s Wreaths Across America New Britain event every December at Fairview Cemetery, managing the state’s largest veterans charity golf tournament, the Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open, and supporting the City, other local veterans service organization partners and members of the community in a wide variety of events and programs to support and honor those who served.
