Multiple Vendors to Sample Tastings; Light Bites and Music on the Menu; Event Will Help Fund December 13, and Future, Laying of Wreaths at Fairview Cemetery

New Britain, Conn., October 10, 2025 – A Wine & Beer Fest featuring Connecticut breweries and vendors showcasing wines of the world will take place Friday, October 24, at the VFW New Britain, with net proceeds benefitting DAV Hardware City Chapter 8’s Wreaths Across America of New Britain Project.

Tickets are just $25 per person for the event, which takes place from 5-8 p.m. at the 41 Veterans Drive, New Britain venue. All attendees must be 21 or over. Advance ticket purchases are highly recommended and are available online at www.davchapter8.org. Walk-ins will be welcomed as space allows.

The event will feature wines provided by Happy Harry Wine & Liquor Discount Warehouse and Stew Leonard’s of Newington. Beer will be provided by Alvarium Beer Company of New Britain, Counter Weight Brewing Company of Cheshire, Kinsmen Brewing of Southington and Whalers Brewing Company of South Kingston, Rhode Island. Non-alcoholic brews will be provided by Athletic Brewing Company of Milford. Finger foods, including trays of apps from Little Poland’s Belvedere Restaurant & Cafe, and light music will also be offered.

National Wreaths Across America Day takes place this year on December 13 at more than 5,200 locations nationwide and abroad, including New Britain’s Fairview Cemetery. Details, including time of the New Britain ceremony, are to be announced.

Wreaths Across America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded to continue and expand the annual wreath-laying ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery, which was begun by Maine businessman Morrill Worcester in 1992. The organization’s yearlong mission – Remember, Honor, Teach – is carried out in part each year by coordinating wreath-laying ceremonies in December at Arlington, as well as at thousands of veterans’ cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states and beyond.
