The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) is a non-profit 501(c)(4) charity dedicated to building better lives for America’s disabled veterans and their families. With more than 1,200 chapters, including DAV Hardware City Chapter 8, and more than one million members across the country, DAV empowers our nation’s heroes and their families by helping to provide the resources they need and ensuring that our nation keeps the promises made to them.

In 2024, DAV-represented veterans received more than $30.4 billion in earned benefits. DAV assisted veterans in filing more than 561,000 claims for benefits and provided more than 235,000 rides to medical appointments. DAV’s services are offered at no cost to all generations of veterans, their families and survivors. DAV is also a leader in connecting veterans with meaningful employment, hosting job fairs and providing resources to ensure they have the opportunity to participate in the American Dream their sacrifices have made possible.

DAV Hardware City Chapter 8 has been assisting New Britain area veterans for decades. The Chapter is a vibrant member of the Greater New Britain community, annually leading the community’s Wreaths Across America New Britain event every December at Fairview Cemetery, managing one of the state’s largest veterans charity golf tournaments, the Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open, playing a leading role in establishment of the Global War on Terror Monument at the City’s Central Park, and supporting the City, other local veterans service organization partners and members of the community in a wide variety of events and programs to support and honor those who served.
