Legendary New Britain-Based Purveyor of Kielbasa and So Much More Has Been a Supporter of “The GK” and New Britain-Area Veterans for Years

New Britain, Conn., August 19, 2024 – Anyone who has ever shopped and dined in New Britain’s renowned Little Poland neighborhood, and most certainly all those who have ever played in and supported DAV Hardware City Chapter 8’s Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open, presented by Liberty Bank, know full well of the special place that Martin Rosol’s and its legendary kielbasa hold in the hearts, minds (and stomachs) of the Greater New Britain community and its veterans.

DAV Chapter 8 is blessed to have enjoyed a wonderful partnership with the famous local specialty meats purveyor, which has again signed on to be the “Official Kielbasa Maker” of Connecticut’s largest veterans charity golf event, taking place this year on September 27 at Tunxis Country Club. The partnership goes back more than a decade to The GK’s earliest years (2011 to be exact).

This unique relationship, says Tournament Founder and Director Dennis Buden, is one of the factors that helps set the Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open apart from other charity golf events.

“This is a match made in Polish Heaven,“ says Buden, a New Britain native who grew up enjoying Martin Rosol’s products. “There is no question in my mind that having the Martin Rosol’s brand, and the allure and aroma of its fantastic kielbasa being grilled for hot sandwiches out at the turn on the golf course, is one of the special ingredients that keeps golfers and guests coming back to this event year after year.”

“I mean, the name of the event is the Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open,” Buden continues. “Who else would we want to provide the delicacy that keeps our players and guests smiling every year?”

Tunxis CC Executive Chef Alex Gomez looks forward to preparing Martin Rosol’s kielbasa at the GK every year.

Martin Rosol’s typically donates 130 pounds of kielbasa to the event, which is more than enough to feed the 200 or so golfers that play every year and the more than 250 guests that attend the post-golf dinner. In addition to grilled kielbasa sandwiches on the course for lunch, kielbasa and cabbage is served as an appetizer at the post-golf dinner.

Of course, supporting charitable causes is nothing new to the family that has operated Martin Rosol’s locally since 1928. A healthy admiration and respect for those who served, in particular, is ingrained within the Rosol family.

“We love being an important part of this event year after year and having played a small part in the hundreds of thousands of dollars this event has raised to support local veterans and active-duty military,” says General Manager Teddy Rosol, the great grandson of founder Martin Rosol and grandson of former long-time CEO, the late Eugene Rosol, who served in the Marine Corps during World War II. “Honoring those who served is part of our DNA.”

With less than six weeks to go to the event, tournament organizers, Martin Rosol’s and Tunxis staff are in full preparation mode. Alex Gomez, Executive Chef at Tunxis Country Club, looks forward to this event every year and having the chance to be creative with the Martin Rosol’s-supplied delicacy.

“We have a ton of terrific events year-round at Tunxis, but from a food preparation standpoint the Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open is something I always look forward to,” says Gomez. “We don’t get a chance to prepare a specialty product like Martin Rosol’s kielbasa very often. It’s a lot of fun and our guests really enjoy it.”
