Some 200 Golfers Expected at DAV Hardware City Chapter 8-Hosted Event; Liberty Bank Returns for Second Year as Presenting Sponsor

New Britain, Conn., July 1, 2022 – The Golden Kielbasa Veterans Open, the state’s premier veterans charity golf event hosted by the Disabled American Veterans, Hardware City Chapter 8 and presented by Liberty Bank, will return once again on Friday, October 7 to Tunxis Plantation Country Club.

Some 200 golfers or more are expected at the event, which over the past decade has raised more than $150,000 for DAV Chapter 8, House of Heroes Connecticut and other charities and causes supporting Connecticut veterans. DAV Hardware City Chapter 8 is a member of the one million-member strong Disabled American Veterans and supports all state and national DAV programs at the local level. House of Heroes Connecticut has provided one-day, no-cost home repairs focusing on safety and accessibility to more than 170 military and public safety veterans or surviving spouses since its 2012 founding.

“We are thrilled to be back for our second year with Liberty Bank, whose support has elevated this event to signature status on the calendar of veterans and their supporters across Connecticut,” said Tournament Director Dennis Buden. “We expect a huge turnout to join in the fun and fundraising.”

Golf registration is $175 per player, which includes range, greens fees, cart, premium gift bag, lunch and beverages on the course, prizes and post-golf dinner, silent auction and raffle. The shotgun start will be at 11 a.m. Dinner-only registration will also be available soon. A wide variety of sponsorship packages, ranging from $100 for a tee sign to $5,000 for a Diamond Sponsorship, are available for local companies and organizations wishing to support the cause.
